Abscope Environmental Inc has completed a wetland remediation project for a New York State utility in Lloyd, NY. The 6-month long PCB and PAH remediation project entailed the installation of a by-pass system to bypass the site inflows around the work area, installation of matted access roads, construction of support areas including staging pads, decon station and water treatment area. Approximately 7000 CY of PCB and PAH impacted sediment was excavated from a 2.5-acre wetland. The wetland sediments were staged and solidified before transported off site for disposal in a Subtitle D Landfill. The excavation areas were backfilled with a high organic general fill prior to placement of wetlands topsoil, channel fill and final grading. Most of the restoration of the 2.5 Acre wetland has recently been completed which included installation of over 1000 wetland plants, 6200 plugs and seeding of 3.5 acres. It is anticipated that some final restoration (e.g. plantings) will need to be performed next spring. The project began in May of 2018. Abscope crews endured an abnormal amount of rainfall adding difficulties to an already challenging project.
